New! Interview with Makaan by Matt Rosenberg, February 2011: Yoga Written in Stone: Re-writing the hearthstone experience, from Nature questing to teaching yoga.
What is the Nature Stone Yoga style ?
Nature Stone Yoga is a gentle and flowing form of exercise that tailors itself to the issues and challenges of the individual student or private client. This form allows the student to drop deep into their own mind-body experience. Nature Yoga is often called Stone yoga because it makes use of smooth hand sized massage stones for weight bearing, balance and relaxation.
In Nature Stone Yoga, we use smooth massage stones of different sizes for balance, muscle development, instant relaxation and connection with nature’s energy. StoneYoga can help you improve your relationship with nature and friends, in addition to all its other benefits,
Since nature is familiar territory to most of us, maintaining nature as a focal point can make yoga that much more enjoyable for newcomers and regulars alike. We will bring the beauty of nature in to our hearts. Students will get a warm stone massage during the class.
We will find the bliss of therapeutic poses and beginning and end we will do restorative couch potato poses. Ayurvedic constitutions will be used to direct energy to the correct point for healing.
Great for fitness teachers, this workshop will use postural techniques to elongate the spine while sitting, standing, lying and walking. We will practice conscious guided walking.

Have fun, Try something new with Makaan Burt, Who has studied yoga for 35 years.
Makaan Burt CYT Nature is familiar territory to most all of us, maintaining nature as a focal point can make yoga that much more enjoyable for newcomers and regulars alike. Students will get a warm stone massage during the class. We use smooth massage stones of different sizes for balance, muscle development and instant relaxation. You truly work your entire mind/body when you practice Stone Yoga. It will help you realign your muscles, so you are strong in a balanced way.
Level two Stone Yoga –Core Strengthening- Find your body's inner wisdom, balance and strengthen your muscles. Our yoga workout will include smooth larger sized stones that will help you with your balance and strengthen your musculature similar to using barbells. Great for fitness teachers; students will get a warm stone massage during class. For level 1 and 2 students.
Hot Stone Yoga and Restorative Yoga -We will find the bliss of therapeutic yoga poses and use the joint freeing exercises to relieve pain. To begin and end this session we will do restorative couch potato poses. Ayurvedic constitutions and techniques will be put to use to direct energy to the correct point for healing and relief. Restorative is the sweet desert form of yoga - suitable for elders, injuries and beginners.
Nature Stone yoga offers a series of classes, workshops, and trainings using nature appreciation and communion as a theme. It is popular because the various forms can fit different abilities and even beginners can see both quick benefits and the ability to go for something much deeper.
Yoga combines breathing with movement in a way that allows the body to feel self-nourishment. It is considered among many people throughout the world as being one of the most fully developed methodologies for self improvement.
People that are practicing high impact sports activities have other motivating reasons for making the change. These athletes reach a point where their doctor or body tells them that they can no longer handle their sport and if they want to continue to exercise, they need to find something else. Nature yoga offers gentle core strengthening and stretching in a refreshing new format. It is based in the tradition of therapeutic yoga that was taught by T. Krishnamacharya, his student B.K.S. Iyengar and his son T.K.S.Desikachar.
